Cocktails for a Cause is Dr. Rebecca Schoonover’s annual fundraiser supporting blindness research and the Scranton Blind Association. The proceeds are donated in honor of her late friend and colleague, optometrist Dr. Heather Baker Romano.

The 6th Annual Cocktails for a Cause will be held on October 9, 2010 at Jhon's Place, 112 South Main Street, Old Forge, Pennsylvania from 7-10 p.m. A $40 donation entitled guests to samplings from the area’s finest restaurants and open bar, including martinis direct from New York City, Miami and Boston. There will be musical entertainment and lavish raffle baskets. Proceeds benefit Research to Prevent Blindness, the leading supporter of eye research directed at the prevention, treatment and eradication of all diseases that threaten vision and the Lackawanna Branch of the Pennsylvania Association for the Blind. http://www.rpbusa.org, http://www.lackawannablind.org

Dr. Schoonover donates the proceeds from the event in loving memory of Heather Baker Romano O.D. who was an optometrist, friend, and mother whose passion for helping people will be continued through the advancement of vision research.
